Why Reformer at the Fit Collective?
Reformer at the Fit Collective is a small independent business full of passion and soul that can be experienced through all that we do; from the essential oils diffusing in class and the care and attention to participants’ form, to the friendly, warm and welcoming atmosphere. We love Reformer Pilates and we want you to love it too.
What is dynamic reformer pilates?
Dynamic Reformer Pilates is a challenging yet nurturing way of working the whole body. Using a system of springs and pulleys the Reformer helps you develop strong, toned muscles whilst improving flexibly, posture, balance and body awareness. People love it for the way it works both the stabilising and global muscles in single exercises, making for a very time efficient way to work out. This harmonious method of exercise sculpts the body whilst calming the mind leaving you feeling rejuvenated.
What is the reformer?
The reformer is a wonderful work of art designed to both support and challenge you beyond what can be performed with mat Pilates. Joseph Pilates designed the reformer himself but it has evolved over the years, and there are different reformers that vary significantly in both design and quality.
What reformers do we use at Reformer at the Fit Collective?
We are blessed with beautiful Balanced Body Allegro 2 Reformers. We believe these are some of the best reformers and the quality can be seen in the smoothness of the movement they allow and the versatility of exercises that can be performed. This versatility comes from the reformer being elevated from the ground and the foot bar that moves up and down the reformer to allow for a plethora of exercises to be performed in each position.
How many people are in each class?
We have just 5 reformers so classes are small and intimate. You get lots of support and attention to help you make the most of your practice as well as develop your skills.

Class Levels:
55 Minute Session Types
Foundations
The gentlest of our classes, suitable for reformer beginners or those wanting to focus on foundation movements. These classes are also most suitable for anyone experiencing injury/pain or reduced mobility.
Flow
Suitable for those who have attended some foundations sessions and are ready to move on. The class is not suitable for beginners but will provide a range of easier and harder options to help those that want to progress. Some exercises such as those that involve standing on the reformer might be included and so a reasonable reformer foundation is required to move safely.
Fire
For those who have been attending reformer classes for a considerable period of time and attend at least twice per week. Good flexibility is required and participants should feel confident with balance work on the reformer. Jump boards will often be used in these classes to provide challenging plyometric work and some cardiovascular work. This class is not at all suitable for those with limited reformer practice even if they have a strong Pilates background.
40 Minute Express Session Types
SMOOTH
A 40 minute express class for those with less time to spare. Our smooth class gives you a mix of lengthening and strengthening at a steady pace to allow you time to focus on your foundations and have a mellow experience. Ideal if you are new to reformer or you just want to take it a little easier...
SWEAT
A 40 minute class for those with little time to spare. These classes are mixed ability and suitable for those with some experience of the reformer. They are fairly fast paced with some challenging work. It is recommended that you attend at least 10 Reformer express smooth sessions or Reformer foundations sessions before attending these sessions. These sessions are not suitable for those with injuries or conditions.
